The givers of light; the bringers of madness. The moons that give Moonshadow its name are three in number, each different in their blighted blessing.
The umbral moon rises and sets with Moonshadow's byzantine sun, ensuring no true sunlight finds the twisted nightmares of this world. She hides Moonshadow from the star that is its sun, her dance around this star marked in perfect phase with Moonshadow's. She is the moon most often cursed, and never blessed is Shadow.
The pearl moon offers the brightest illumination of the three sisters; yet often the hope she offers is a fickle one; for even when risen and full a stray cloud may rob the world of her light and erase any sanctuary she may offer. She brings with her folly and foolish courage, earning her the name Despair; even the coming of light is tainted in this place.
Finally, there is the incarnadine moon; the most feared of the three. While the umbral moon is cursed, and the pearl moon fickle, the incarnadine moon's rise brings naught but malevolence. When she is full those accursed cults gather in the shadows for their fell rituals and diabolic prayers, the dead hunt and some things walk that ought to crawl. Cruor they call her, for the shouts that echo in those fell glades upon her rise demand no less.
